Get to Know Our New 3rd Grade Teacher Ms. Wells
An interview completed by Jennifer M.
Please give a warm Indigo Welcome to Ms. Wells who is a new 3rd grade teacher here and is a Frost Elementary and Herman Middle School alumni.
How was your first day of school at Indigo?
My first day at Indigo was a whirlwind! I always enjoyed the first day of school as a student, and it still feels a little bit the same – exciting but nerve-wracking as well. I was lucky to have so many caring teachers and parents checking in to see how things were going. I’m grateful for how welcoming this community has been already.
Have you taught any other grade beside 3rd grade?
I taught 4th grade in Milpitas last year and loved it! This is my second year teaching, but I’ve had a lot of experience working with kids from preschool to 9th grade. I hear great things about 3rd grade, so I’m excited to try it out this year.
What was your best memory at Frost?
I have so many fond memories of Frost and all of the wonderful teachers I had K-6. My favorite year as a student was actually 3rd grade – I was in Ms. Francia’s class in Room 18. That year I met a new student who is still one of my best friends today! Every day at recess, we would play soccer with all the boys – it was a bonding experience.
What do you hope to accomplish in your first year at Indigo?
I’m really excited to become a part of this community and learn from all of its wonderful teachers, parents, and students! My biggest goal this year is to work with my students and families to create a classroom community that allows us all to take risks, learn from each other, and grow as learners and as people.
What do you like to do when you are not teaching?
I’m so glad I’ve already gotten the chance to bond with some of my students over our love of hockey! I’m a huge Sharks fan, and if there’s a game on, I’m probably watching it with my dad. I read and write when I have the time, and recently started taking Russian lessons with my mom – I’ve always loved being a student as well as a teacher. My goal for this school year is to stay active and get back into running and hiking.
Welcome to the family and see you on the playground Ms. Wells!!
